Is Dabangg based on Saamy?

Oh well, there are inspirations all over Bollywood from a lot of Tamil movies. Last year, the famous film Wanted directed by Prabhu Deva had definite influences of a south Indian movie we would rather choose to not name, but the new film has one too many similarities with the Vikram classic to miss out.

Newbie director Abhinav Kashyap, brother of superb filmmaker Anuraag Kashyap has done a good job with the movie, as trailers suggest. The film features newcomer Sonakshi Sinha who is looking like a million dollars, quite similar to the hit 2003 movie Saamy that featured Vikram and Trisha Krishnan in the lead. It was the film which had Trisha as the heroine and she presented herself as a star for the first time.

In Dabangg Salman Khan is the bad boy cop who is totally corrupted, absolutely a knock-out from his previous role as the man in Wanted. However, if the film fails to entertain the audience then the director and the producer would have a tough time ahead. Previously, Salman?s home production Veer was declared a flop, thanks to the bad script and worse acting which made the film pretty unbearable.
