Adoor Pankajam's Sad Demise

Adoor Pankajam, one of the celebrated Mollywood artist, recently died on 26th June 2010. She was 85 years of age.


Adoor was one of the first character artist hailing from Kerala, and she was one of the few women comedians in Malayalam film industry. Her career began with a play when she was 12, and she continued with plays through her adolescence where she began working in comedy roles.


Her film career has been over a huge span of time, beginning from 1965 when she did the film Chemmeen. Her career has spanned over 400 films, and it has been a pleasure for Mollywood to have such a talented star that was such a versatile being. She met and married Devarajan Potti, who was the owner of Kollam Bharatha Kalachandrika. The last film that she did before her death was Kunjikoonan which also starred prolific comedy actor Dileep. She has done many films, including the 1996 hit film Kathapurushan, which is a critically acclaimed and awarded movie.


In her long span of acting career, in both theater and movies, she was awarded with the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy's award for an overall contribution to theatre and drama.
