Movie Review Osthi

The problem and good thing about this movie is the same it is a remake of Dabangg, which featured the great Salman Khan. However, to give him credit, Silambarasan, Simbu, or STR as he likes to call himself, does a commendable job of playing his role as Osthi Velan, a young police officer who is at odds with his stepfather and stepson, and loves his mother Revathy

While the fantastic action sequences and fun dialogues would keep you engaged in the movie, there are some minus points in this movie too. The first one is the heroine, played by Richa Gangopadhyay, who is not given much to do apart from looking pretty and throwing glances at our hero. The other problem is the music, apart from the title track, others seem alright but not too hummable, including the hugely hyped 'Kalasala' with Mallika Sherawat in it.

Otherwise the film has got potential in several parts, including Sonu Sood who does a great job as the villain, and Jeethan Ramesh as the brother is also great and has a long way to go. The predictability is there but STR's presence is no less indomitable than Salman Khan in the original which makes this movie worth a watch.
