As it was slated to run against the SRK starred Don 2, Vikram was hoping that a good story and good acting will push the movie through to the audience, and to his delight, it has done the trick. Despite having a story line which can be considered to be slightly dated, the film Rajapattai is a strong one this season, thanks to the acting of Vikram who shines through every scene.

Despite many potholes in the otherwise half baked plot, there are moments in the film which brings Vikram's acting ability across. On the other hand, the rest of the cast is nothing remarkable. From Sana to Deeksha Seth, the female cast does not have much to do. Deeksha looks okay but lacks any acting ability in the true sense, and she is not given much to do anyway. On the other hand, there are item songs and songs strewn across the movie which often disconcerts you, and moments in the film can be very irritating where poorly written lines are often enough the trouble.

The director Suseenthiran is absolutely out of his depth in this movie, and manages to mess the film up quite a bit, not giving any character real depth or feeling.
