Watching the film might just transport you back to the 90s and early 2000s when similar scripts were made along with the acting. For, the plot of the movie Vithagan is quite in the lines of the 'good cop bad guy' lines with a lot of police stories like 'Kaakha Kaakha' thrown into it, and a series of weird incidents and unnecessary silly stuff makes watching it pretty much unbearable. The role of the hero, or the ACP, has been played well by Parthepan, who is shown as the good cop who tries to get rid of the scum of the earth. However the problem begins when there are several loose moments in the movie that does not fit together. Despite good acting from both hero as well as heroine, Poorna, who has potentials to become a good commercial actress, it looks like the film has few other things to go for it. There are suddenly thrown in item songs which to say the least are quite unnecessary and extremely tiresome. The worst feature is the villain himself, who is none other than Milind Soman, and we often wondered through the course of the movie what possessed him to accept the role which clearly was a bad one.
