Music Review: Endhiran

Technologic. That is the first word that comes in when you hear the music album from the movie Endhiran, which translates to The Robot in English. Though the music has been composed by AR Rahman, the multiple Oscar winning man, we have but one question: Why do we get music which somehow echoes your formula over and over again.

When the first notes of 'Kadhal Anukkal' come through, with Shreya Ghoshal in perfect symmentry with Vijay Prakash, we felt glad. But then the music gets to the same note as we have heard quite a few times before. And the songs make noise and grow incredibly technical as we progress, focusing more on the sound than the melody.

And when the song 'Irumbilae Oru Idhayam' comes in we know that though this is possibly the best in the album, it is far too superficial to satisfy our deep need to listen to the mellifluous symphony which AR Rahman could once create, but somehow has recently not been able to score. We can very easily then thrash out the synchronized noise and realize that while the music is good to hear, it is definitely not Rahman's best, and does not even come close.
