When you make a remake of a classic you must remember that the film might be boring for a lot of people who have seen it all before. However, Shankar once again proves that he can provide us with a full-on family entertainer which is not just fun to watch and very well-executed but also a sincere effort of making sure a classic is adapted in all its forms.
The most beautiful thing about Nanban is that it makes sure that one understands the values of goodness and friendship. Made in the simple lines of 3 Idiots, the film displays the friendship between Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth in a beautiful way and you would be stunned by the way Ilayathalapathy acts in this film understated, deglamorized and definitely different from his last films, but so approachable and lovable.
On the other hand, he has got perfect accompaniment in Jiiva, Srikanth and Sathyaraj. The one hitch in acting seems to be Ileana, who does not do justice to her role, and does not make her presence felt much. The second half of the film has a few very dramatically predictable moments which overly elongate the movie, but overall Shankar proves that this film is definitely in the lines of 'all is well'!
