The previous year seemed to go well for Asin who did two major films which became major box office record holders. Ready and Kaavalan were both talk of the town for quite some time, yet she did not make that much of an impression on the National screen and though her popularity in the South remains quite high, she was also blacklisted there because she went away to Sri Lanka to shoot for her film Ready, and later told the Tamil film industry that it was what was expected of her and she had to do it. For a long time the Tamil film industry held a grudge against her about it, and apparently still continues holding it.

Probably this is the reason why she is appearing in a television series from UTV Stars where she would be playing the role of a woman who is going to give strong advice to people. This can be seen as a smart move as a lot of actors before her had gone off to small screen to increase their popularity and at present Asin has few offers in her hand. So she would appear in Superstar Santa quite soon.
