The new Mani Ratnam movie would begin shooting somewhere in January 2012. Talks are on about the movie becoming a major one in the life of Gautham who is the son of Karthik. The film would be the glamorous debut for the young actor and this is indeed a once-in-a-lifetime offer for any young man who is trying to enter Kollywood.

Mani Ratnam is very silent about the movie. He is unwilling to speak to the media about the basic concept of the film as well as the way the script will develop. However, we have confirmed from close sources of the film that the heroine of the movie is going to be Samantha.

The film has got a sensational script by Jeyaram and apparently Samantha was great for the role she was given. The Telugu actress was previously rejected for another film by Mani Ratnam (Raavanan). However, this time she has been selected back and she has been chosen over several Bollywood beauties including Sonam Kapoor who was initially being considered for the role as well. Several young untried actresses were also approached by Mani Ratnam but ultimately Samantha Ruth Prabhu got the dream role.
